many good friends in the process. Come and meet some of the Anacan

Branson & Christine

Anacan Cause To Celebrate ("Branson"), born 9th June 1996, is a red and white patched son of Gvir Me Shaar Hagai At Anacan and Minto's Libyan Jewel, who went to David & Christine Franklin in Bermuda. He is the first Bermudian breed champion with 9 Herding Group placements with very little showing. He sired the only litter of Canaans born in Bermuda and proved himself in that area as well. "Branny" helped Christine out with her child-minding when she used to do it, guarding the little ones and even helping out with nappy changes. "Branny" is a much-loved member of the Franklin family.

Simcha        Tikvah at 10 wks of age

Kurt & Catherine Vogt contacted us in their search for a Canaan Dog. They made the trip over to England and picked out Anacan Song of Joy ("Simcha"), who was born the 17th January 1998, to come live with them and their little girls in Switzerland. "Simcha" is a red and white patched daughter of Anacan Ziggy and Anacan Sheindela and is an agility hopeful. Though Catherine is not interested in showing "Simcha", she qualified her for Crufts during the Vogt's visit to England in May 2000 the first time in the show ring for both of them.

Whilst here on that trip the Vogt's fell in love with Anacan Tikvah, a white with sand patches son of The Lion of Judah At Anacan and Anacan Whole Lotta Class born the 8th April 2000 and decided to take him back home to Switzerland as well. Their little girls, Patsy and Michelle, love the dogs and vice versa.

Andy

Anacan Diplomat at Kirifix ("Andy") who is a black and white patched Ziggy/Sheindela son born the 8th April 2000, went to Riikka and Esko Turunen's Kennel Kirifix in Finland to help expand the genepool there. "Andy" was Reserve Best In Show Puppy at his first show when 8-months old (the first Canaan Dog in Finland to win this award) and he earned his first CAC at a year of age. He is now a Finnish Champion and has earned one CACIB towards his international championship. "Andy" has sired three litters and his offspring are making their mark in the show ring. He has accomplished what he was sent to Finland for and more. Riikka has told us that "Andy" has a wonderful temperament and is a joy to live with.

Norris

The first Canaan Dog to enter Poland was our lovely white and sand patched Ziggy/Sheindela son, Anacan Ivan, born the 17th January 1998, who went to Tomasz & Elizabeth Janowicz. The Janowicz's learned about the Canaan Dog from a video done by a Polish film crew at the Birmingham National show in 1998. They contacted the film company and got our name and the rest is history. Tomasz calls his dog "Norris" after the film star, Chuck Norris. Though we don't hear from the Janowicz's often, they have told us several times how happy they are with this boy.

Charon and Daniella

The solid sand-coloured Charon Ashkenasi ("Charon"), who is a littermate of our The Lion of Judah At Anacan and a Sivan Me Shaar Hagai and Minto's Libyan Jewel son, born 19th December 1993, was bred by Richard and registered with The Kennel Club before the Anacan affix was born. "Charon" lives in Germany with his owners, David and Daniella Ashkenasi. They came over to England from Berlin to see "Charon's" litter, knowing that if his mother, "Bobby", didn't approve of them, they would be going home empty-handed. Luckily for them, "Bobby" approved.

The Ashkenasis very rarely go anywhere unless "Charon" can go with them, including restaurants. Nothing is allowed to interfere with "Charon's" schedule. Richard and I almost missed our plane back home from our visit to Berlin and the Ashkenasis because "Charon" had to have his two-hour walk at his set time! We certainly could not wish for a better home for one of our Canaans.

Leib (left) at 8 wks with brother, Remy on right

Nina and Isak Korn originally contacted us by email to learn more about the Canaan Dog. As Isak was recovering from a heart attack, he wished to get a dog that would be forgiving on the days Isak was not up to giving it much exercise. After several telephone calls and much email correspondence, Nina and Isak made a trip to England to meet us and our Canaans and to take "Leib" (Anacan Leib Ein H'Arava) back to Denmark. "Leib", who is black with white trim and a son of our The Lion of Judah At Anacan and Kibutzer Kween In Kofyn, born 7th October 1999, and was for a time the only Canaan Dog in Denmark. "Leib" was named after Isak's grandfather and the name mean "lion", all the more interesting as that is part of "Leib's" sire's name. He has become very much part of the family , enjoyed by son, Daniel when he comes home from university, and the Korn's daugther who has her own home, and loved by all. We received a phone call from Isak on the 17th April 2001 telling us that "Leib" is the subject of a 4-page magazine article in Denmark which has sparked a number of enquiries on the breed. We are very proud of our boy.

Aragon

Anacan Aragon, who is red and so much like his grandmother, "Bobby", went to Sweden to take care of Zet and Jenny Wallin. He is out of our Anacan Ziggy/Anacan Whole Lotta Class litter born the 8th April 2000. Zet & Jenny made the trip over from Sweden to meet Richard and Ellen and all the Anacan Canaans and to see if the puppy the Mintos felt would be the right choice for them, was indeed the one. He was! "Aragon" is a fine companion and loved member of the Wallin household. He has won many admirers for the breed and the Wallin's friends, Ingrid & Torsten Almen eventually also got a puppy from us because of Aragon.

Diandra

Anacan Diandra, is a lovely cream-coloured bitch, who went to Sweden to join Ingrid & Torsten Almen's household. She is out of our Anacan Ziggy/Anacan Whole Lotta Class litter born the 20th March 2001, and is a litter sister to our 'Lyndsay'. The Torstens were recommended to us by Zet & Jenny Wallin. Ellen had the pleasure of meeting the Torsten's and seeing 'Diandra' again when she went to Sweden to visit the Wallins in September 2001. The Torstens told her that they had always owned German Shepherd's in the past, but when their last one died, they decided to get a Canaan Dog. They came to us because the Wallins assured them that the Anacan Canaans were members of our household and not kennel dogs. Torsten told Ellen that he and Ingrid felt honoured to be able to own such a unique and wonderful breed of dog.

Be patient, there's loads more to come! We'll be adding to the Anacan World gallery shortly!
